Seminar on H1N1 Influenza Preparing for and Responding to a Pandemic

18:15 registration for 1830 to 2030

Map)
Speaker
Brien Chan, Vice President, Human Capital Practice
Leader of Marsh Risk Consulting
Programme Highlights The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the virus will almost certainly become a pandemic. The clock is now ticking for businesses—already struggling with the global economic crisis—to close the gaps in their business continuity and other emergency plans and gear up to respond.
The current outbreak of the H1N1 virus underscores the critical importance of effective pandemic influenza response to minimize the potential for human morbidity and mortality, to reduce social and economic disruptions, and to mitigate against organizational risk exposures. It should be emphasized that the situation involving the H1N1 pandemic is evolving rapidly, and must be monitored closely. Pandemic plans and response must include the ability to react quickly and with flexibility in response to changing scenarios in accordance with the current phase of the pandemic.
Many organizations believe that at the peak of a severe pandemic, up to 75 percent of the workforce could be absent from work. With that in mind, businesses would be well-advised to ensure their emergency-response and business-continuity plans are up-to-date and include specific planning for dealing with a pandemic. The speaker will outline the organizational pandemic preparedness and response and business continuity management.

Programme Highlights
Asset management practices are about the up-keep, performance,
the cost, and the future needs of an organisation's physical assets,
including infrastructure, property, plant and equipment. The
practices apply to all asset owners, service providers and government
departments which purchase, operate and maintain physical assets,
and have significant capital investment and engineering budgets.
Keeping those assets in ‘good shape' and at the optimum costs,
requires the right policies and strategies to be not only designed,
but also to be implemented and supervised. The coordination of all
the activities requires management skill, monitoring and continuous
improvement, even for those organisations already operating with
the best practices.
Come and hear how the ‘bottom line' can be reduced, service
improved, and other tangible benefits achieved, from:
Learn how Towngas implemented their system
with: continuous
top management commitment; AM strategies communicated to all
levels; risk assessment as everybody's job; asset related performance
(KPI) closely monitored and reviewed; and PAS55 certification
achieved after a journey of 9 months.
Hear the British Standards Institution, Hong
Kong, describe the
“revolution of the specification PAS 55 -2008”, and the major
changes between the old and new versions.

to deliver change in process, environment and behaviour. The speaker sets
out an approach that achieves this objective.
