Speaker
Nigel Heaton is the CEO of Human Applications, an UK-based risk management organisation. He provides risk management consultancy services to clients in Europe, Far East and the USA. Nigel is a Chartered Member of the IOSH, a Member of the Institute of Risk Management and a Fellow Member of the Ergonomics Society. He has been working in Hong Kong since 2003 for services to the Hong Kong Police Force and the ICAC. Nigel co-authored and delivered the IOSH’s original suite of risk assessment and risk management training courses in 1993. Human Applications also acts as technical consultant for producing the revised “Working Safely and Managing Safely” courses for the IOSH. He currently conducts training courses on risk management, ergonomics, and business risk for the IOSH.

Programme Highlights
The knowledge and skill of business risk management help safety professionals to link safety issues to a boarder spectrum of corporate risk management framework. This seminar will highlight some of the key elements on this approach. The speaker will discuss the links between safety and corporate risk, with case study sharing on disasters at Texas City; Perrier and SARS to demonstrate on how they can adopt a wider business risk context. The seminar will concentrate on effective approach of risks management at corporate level, including:-

1. propose a simple framework for systemic risk management, such as compliance to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and the internal control based on the Guidance for Directors on the Combined Code (1999);
2. apply International Standards such as ISO 18001 and ISO 14001 and other proposed standards for risk management and business continuity planning. The seminar will also look into the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and a pro-active safety management system.

CPD: Certificate will be issued to participants who have completed the entire duration of the seminar. Each participating member shall collect his/her attendance certificate (with pre-printed name but without the Institution’s stamp) during registration. Upon the completion of the seminar, at 08:20pm or later, participants shall proceed to the reception counter for receiving a stamp on the certificate. Only certificates with the Institution’s stamp are considered as valid CPD certificates.

Remarks: To prevent the spreading of Influenza infection, we request participants who have influenza-like symptoms, e.g. fever, cough and runny nose, should not attend the seminar. Alternatively, he/she should put on a face mask throughout his/her stay at the seminar Please provide us your contracts (phone number or email) at time of on-line registration. We will notify you as soon as possible should any case of Human H1N1 Influenza at the seminar is confirmed.
