Conference Dinner

The Conference Dinner, with a short harbour cruise, will be held on 1-December-05 at Lamma Island, one of the most beautiful outlying islands in Hong Kong. We will take a boat provided by the Rainbow Restaurant leaving from Tsimshatsui Public Pier at 6:15 pm, 1-December-05. Please see the suggested walking route map below. Please arrive on time!!!

Dress casually and comfortably, the weather in December is nice but can get cold. Please check the weather website below for latest information.

Transportation

Transportation services between the airport and most areas of Hong Kong are provided by regular express trains, buses and plenty of urban taxis. Passengers of the Airport Express Train can also use complementary bus services between the MTR train stations and the Conference hotel.

Visa and Entry Requirements for Hong Kong
Visitors from most countries don't require a visa but some do. Check the Hong Kong Immigration Department Visa and Entry Requirements to find out if you need a Visa or Entry Permit, and how long you can stay in Hong Kong.

You can get further advice from your closest Chinese Diplomatic or Consular Mission.

Currency and Credit Cards
The Hong Kong Dollar is pegged to the US$ at about HK$7.8 to US$1. Hong Kong has a comprehensive ATM network and most establishments accept Credit Cards.

The official languages are Chinese (Cantonese) and English (widely spoken in the service industry).

Electricity
Electricity is 220 volts, 50Hz. Most sockets accept rectangular blade plugs (UK style).

Tipping
Most Hotels and restaurants add a 10% service charge to bills. Some people reward good service with an additional 5% and give porters and the like a small tip. Rounding a taxi fare up to the nearest dollar as a small tip is a common practice.
